Hanami 花見

In Japan, there have been customs for enjoying the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter long ago.

When spring comes, cherry blossoms begin to bloom here and there.

About 700 AD, the nobles enjoyed the party while watching the flowers. Nowadays, there are parks and streets with Sakura(cherry blossoms) all around Japan.

Modern people also enjoy banquets under Sakura or while walking along the way of Sakura.

Sakura of the night lighted up are also beautiful.

It is fun to drink sake while watching sakura.

The custom of Japanese Hamanami is old, there are 43 songs that sang cherry blossoms in "Manyoshu", and 110 songs singing Ume. In "Kokin Waka song" early in the 10th century, Sakura are over 70 heads and Ume are reversed to 18 necks. It has been around this time that the beauty of a woman can be compared to Sakura.

In the Kamakura-Muromachi Period, customs of aristocratic Hanami also extended to the samurai class.

In the Edo Period, customs of Hanami spread widely to commoners. Sakura breeding improvement was actively carried out around this time.

"Manyoshu" is the oldest waka collection existing in Japan woven from the second half of the 7th century to the latter half of the eighth century. It is a collection of more than 4,500 songs sung by emperors, aristocrats, subordinate officers, and guards by people of various standings, and the establishment is seen after 759 years.
