People can’t live without food. Food is one life. That life is a victim of sacrifice for you.
The food will not come without the Earth, the sun, the air, the water etc.
Before that food comes to you, you need a person who brings you and someone who cooked.
Japanese people say "Itadakimasu いただきます" before meals.
It has a meaning of appreciation for all beings involved in meals in front of me.
After the meal is over, the Japanese says "Gochisosama ごちそうさま".
It includes thankfulness to say "thank you for hospitality" and gratitude for the existence that was sacrificed.
