Japanese clima

Japan is an island country in the Far East of Asia. It is surrounded by the sea on all sides, and its topography is long in the north and south.

Located in the Far East of the Eurasian Continent, the Japanese archipelago (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu) and Izu Islands, the Ogasawara Islands, and the Nansei Islands are connected in about 3,300 kilometers in the north and south. Honshu has about 230,000 square kilometers and is the seventh largest island in the world. The whole land area is about the same as Germany. It is also located in a temperate zone, rich in the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter.

As Japan is an elongated country in the north and south, cold in Hokkaido and tropical in Okinawa, there are bigger climatic differences in the region. Also in the same Honshu the weather is totally different between the Pacific side and the Japan Sea side. However, because of this diverse climate, a variety of cultures are born, and you can enjoy unique local landscapes, foods and events in various places.

In particular, there are many large cities on the Pacific side where the climate is mild, about half of the total population of Japan is concentrated in the Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya cities.

As mountains occupy about 70% of the country, hiking is one of the popular activities for Japanese and there are many mountaineering courses that can be enjoyed from beginners to advanced people. In addition, the central part of Honshu is a series of "high altitudes" high altitudes of 3000 meters in height called "Japan Alps", and some of them have high quality snow, so skiers gather from all over the world. Moreover, because the volcano is located all over the country, the hot springs also spring. Incidentally, in Japan there are about 3,000 spa areas and about 28,000 sources, and the culture entering the hot springs has taken root since long ago.

In Japan where the four sides are surrounded by the sea, various types of fish are acquired. The reason is that both the Japan Sea side and the Pacific Ocean side have sea areas where warm currents and cold currents meet, and from plentiful planktons gathered, they gather from small fish to big fish such as tuna. Also, because there are many mountainous areas, there are many rivers, and river and lake fisheries are also flourishing. If you come to Japan, try trying sushi and various fish dishes.

Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture where I live Because the warm current and the cold current collide with each other, fish is abundant, climate is mild, very easy to live.
